How to Make Bunny Themed Party Food Simple Treats Kids Love

Okay so my niece’s birthday was coming up and her mom asked if I could handle some party snacks. The kid’s obsessed with bunnies right now, like seriously, everything has to be bunny themed. I thought, “How hard can cute bunny food be?” Famous last words, right?

First things first, I needed a game plan. Scrolled online for ages looking at pictures. Saw loads of complicated fondant stuff, absolutely not happening. Found a few ideas for super simple treats that real kids might actually eat. Bunny themed pretzels? Bunny pancakes? Fruit? Yeah, that seemed doable.

The Bunny Grazing Board

Figured I’d start with fruit ’cause it seemed easiest. Grabbed:

  • A big green melon for the head shape
  • Strawberries for ears
  • Blueberries for eyes
  • Apple slices, grapes, raspberries – the whole gang

Cutting the melon… okay, getting a smooth bunny head ain’t straightforward. It kept looking lopsided! Finally just went for a sort of oval shape. Strawberry ears were easier, just sliced them long and thin. Then the fun part: assembly. Stuck everything on a big platter. Made the bunny face with blueberries and sliced a skinny piece of apple for its mouth. Scattered other fruit around it. Looked kinda cute! Messy but cute.

Pretzel Bunnies & Pancake Faces

Next up, pretzel bunnies. Needed:

  • Yogurt covered pretzels (the white ones)
  • Mini chocolate chips
  • Pink candy melts
  • Mini pink M&Ms (or just a dab of melted chocolate mixed with red food coloring)

Melted a tiny bit of pink candy in a baggie for piping. Stuck two pretzels together with melted candy as glue? Fail. They slid right off. Changed tactics. Laid pretzels flat. Dabbed the candy for the eyes (mini chocolate chips) and the nose (pink M&M). Then piped the little pink mouth. Worked much better! Took forever though.

Pancake batter next – just a regular mix. Poured little ovals onto the hot pan for the face shape. Trickier than normal pancakes! Some spread weird. For the ears, poured a small circle and used the spatula to drag out two points? Total mixed success. Some looked vaguely rabbit-like. Others… not so much. Used sliced strawberries for the inner ears and bits of banana slices dipped in melted chocolate for the eyes. Kinda worked!

The Carrot Juice Disaster Zone

Thought it’d be genius to serve bright orange “carrot punch” since bunnies love carrots, obviously. Juiced actual carrots. Made a HUGE mess. Juice sprayed everywhere! Added some orange juice concentrate and sparkling water to stretch it and sweeten it a bit. Poured it into small cups. Put little paper bunny faces on the straws – easy printout cut-outs.

Did the Kids Actually Eat It?

Set it all out on the party table. Held my breath. The fruit disappeared first. Smart kids! Some went straight for the pretzels. A few brave souls picked up my weird pancake faces. Most looked confused, then nibbled. Highlight? The little guy who grabbed a pretzel bunny and yelled, “Look! A bunny!” Best compliment ever. The carrot juice… was mostly ignored until the sugar rush kicked in later.

So yeah, it was messy, a bit stressful, definitely not Pinterest-perfect. But the kids saw the bunnies! Mission sort-of accomplished. Would I do it again? Probably… for my niece. Maybe skip the fresh juicing part next time.
