Alright, let’s talk about getting curls done fast. Because honestly, who has hours? Not me.

So, the other morning I was running late, like usual. Hair looked flat, needed something. I remembered seeing those “quick curl” hacks everywhere, decided to actually try one for real instead of just watching videos.
Heat Styling Rush Job
First up, the trusty old curling iron. Not the fancy wand, just the basic clamp one I’ve had forever. Plugged it in, cranked it up pretty high. Maybe too high, but I was short on time.
While it heated up, I ran a brush through my hair real quick. Didn’t bother with heat protectant. Yeah, I know, terrible. But speed was the goal here, right?
Okay, iron’s hot. Started grabbing random sections of hair. Not small sections, more like medium chunks. Clamped near the end, rolled it up towards my head. Held it for maybe 5-8 seconds? I wasn’t counting precisely, just kinda guessed. Then let it drop.
- Grab hair chunk.
- Clamp and roll.
- Hold briefly.
- Release.
- Repeat all over.
Did this around my whole head. It wasn’t neat. Some pieces got curled tighter, some looser. Definitely missed a few spots underneath, but whatever. The top layer looked kinda wavy-ish. Good enough.

The whole thing took maybe 10 minutes? Faster than doing it properly, for sure. Downside? The curls looked a bit messy, not uniform at all. And I probably fried my hair a little without the protectant spray. One section near my face got way too hot, had that slightly burnt smell. Oops.
Overnight Method – If You Remember
Then there’s the other way I sometimes do it, which is technically ‘quick’ in the morning but needs planning. Washing my hair the night before.
So, wash hair, let it air dry until it’s just damp. Not soaking wet, not fully dry. Then I just do two simple braids. Like basic pigtail braids, nothing fancy.
Go to sleep. Wake up, undo the braids. Gives me these loose waves. Takes literally 30 seconds in the morning. Zero heat damage. The trick is getting the dampness level right. Too wet, it won’t dry overnight. Too dry, the waves won’t set.
So yeah, the heat way is genuinely fast when you’re in a pinch right then and there. The braid way is faster in the morning but you had to do the prep work the night before. Pick your poison, I guess. Usually, I end up doing the rushed heat thing because planning ahead isn’t my strong suit.
