Okay, so today I’m gonna share my little adventure with making party food on cocktail sticks. I saw some fancy-looking things online and thought, “Hey, I can probably mess around and make something decent.” Turns out, it was a fun little project!

First things first, I hit up the grocery store. I grabbed some cherry tomatoes, mozzarella balls (the small ones, ya know?), some basil leaves, a cucumber, and a block of cheddar cheese. I also picked up a pack of ham and some olives – the ones stuffed with pimentos, ’cause those are my jam.
Back home, I started by washing all the veggies. Then, I cut the cucumber into thick slices and used a small cookie cutter (a star shape, because why not?) to make them look a bit more interesting. Next, I cubed the cheddar cheese into bite-sized pieces. The ham, I folded into little squares.
Now came the fun part – assembling the cocktail sticks! I started with the classic: tomato, mozzarella ball, basil leaf. Easy peasy. Then, I got a little more creative. Cucumber star, cheese cube, olive. Ham square, tomato, mozzarella. I just kept mixing and matching, trying to get a good balance of colors and textures.
I realized halfway through that I was running out of cocktail sticks! Oops. Good thing I had some wooden skewers lying around. They’re a bit longer, but they worked just fine. I even used some of the leftover cucumber slices as a base for some of the skewers, so they wouldn’t tip over on the plate.
The biggest challenge was keeping the mozzarella balls from rolling all over the place. Those little guys are slippery! I ended up sticking the cocktail sticks into them at a slight angle, which seemed to help a bit.

When I was done, I arranged all the cocktail sticks and skewers on a platter. Honestly, it looked pretty good! Definitely better than I expected. It wasn’t perfect, but it was colorful, tasty, and easy to eat – exactly what you want for a party, right?
The best part? Everyone loved them! They disappeared pretty quickly. Plus, it was a fun way to get a little creative in the kitchen. I’m already thinking about what other kinds of party food I can put on a stick next time. Maybe some melon and prosciutto? Or some grilled shrimp?
Lessons learned: Buy more cocktail sticks than you think you’ll need. And don’t be afraid to experiment with different combinations of ingredients. It’s all about having fun and making something that tastes good!
