Okay, so summer’s here and I was totally over my usual boring hairstyle. I needed something quick, easy, and, you know, actually cute for once. So I spent a little time browsing around and decided to try a few things out. Here’s how it went down.

First Up: The Messy Bun Upgrade
I always do a messy bun, like, always. It’s my go-to for everything. But it’s usually just… messy. I wanted to make it look a bit more intentional. So, I started by pulling my hair into a high ponytail. Not too tight, just kinda loose. Then, instead of just twisting it into a bun, I split the ponytail in half. I twisted each half separately and then wrapped them around the base of the ponytail in opposite directions. Secured with a couple of bobby pins. Boom! Instantly looks way more put-together. I even pulled out a few strands around my face to soften it up. Way better than my usual two-second job.
Next: Braided Headband Faux Hawk
This one looked kinda intimidating, but it was surprisingly easy. I parted my hair to the side. Then, starting on the side with more hair, I took a section near my hairline and started a Dutch braid (basically, an inside-out French braid). I braided it all the way across my forehead, following my hairline like a headband. When I got to the other side, I just tucked the end of the braid behind my ear and pinned it. The rest of my hair I just kinda teased a bit at the crown to give it some volume and texture. It legit looked like a faux hawk! And it only took, like, five minutes. Seriously, try it.
Then: The Half-Up Top Knot with a Twist (Literally)
Okay, this one’s super simple. I took the top half of my hair, like you’re going for a half-up ponytail. Before I tied it into a top knot, I twisted the hair a few times. It just adds a little something extra. Then I wrapped it into a messy bun and secured it with an elastic band and a couple of pins. Super fast, super cute. It’s a good one when you’re running late but still want to look like you made an effort.
Finally: The Low Ponytail with a Scarf
This is my secret weapon when my hair is just not cooperating. I just throw it into a low ponytail. But a regular ponytail is boring, right? So, I grabbed a cute silk scarf (I have a million of these). Tied the ponytail with an elastic band, then tied the scarf around the elastic band, letting the ends hang down. Gives the ponytail a pop of color and makes it look way more stylish. Plus, it covers up the elastic band, which is always a win.
So yeah, those are the easy summer hairstyles I’ve been rocking lately. They’re all super quick and they actually look pretty good, even when I’m having a bad hair day. Definitely worth trying out if you’re looking for something new and simple. Let me know if you try them and how they work out for you!
