Okay, so I saw this thing online about dissolving liquid gold bond for weaves, and I was like, “No way, that can’t be that easy.” My last weave install was, shall we say, a sticky situation. Getting that glue out was a nightmare! So, I figured, why not give this a shot? I’m all about making life easier, especially when it comes to my hair.
First, I gathered my supplies. You know, the usual suspects:
- The liquid gold bond (obviously).
- Some 91% isopropyl alcohol (the higher the percentage, the better, I figured).
- Cotton balls – lots of them.
- A small bowl.
- An old toothbrush.
- And, of course, the wefts I wanted to remove.
The Experiment Begins!
I started by pouring some of the alcohol into the small bowl. Just enough to dip the cotton balls in. Then, I took a cotton ball, soaked it in the alcohol, and started applying it to the bonded areas of the wefts.I made sure it saturated that staff. I made sure everything is wet.
I let it sit for a few minutes. I’m not gonna lie, I was a little impatient, tapping my foot and checking every 30 seconds. Patience is a virtue, they say… but I was excited to see if this would actually work!
After about 5 minutes, I took the old toothbrush,and began to gently scrub at the bonded areas. And…OMG! The glue started to loosen! Like, really loosen. I was shocked. I kept scrubbing, adding a little more alcohol to the cotton ball as needed, and the wefts started to separate from my natural hair. It was like magic, but, you know, the smelly, alcohol-y kind of magic.
I continued this process, section by section, until all the wefts were out. I’m not gonna say it was completely effortless. There were a few stubborn spots that needed a little extra love (and alcohol), but compared to my previous experiences? This was a breeze!.
Finally, I washed my hair thoroughly with shampoo and conditioner to get rid of any remaining residue (and the alcohol smell, yuck!). My hair felt surprisingly clean and glue-free.
So, the verdict? This liquid gold bond dissolving trick? It’s a total game-changer. Seriously. If you’re struggling with removing your weave, definitely give this a try. It’s quick, it’s easy, and it actually works! Who knew?
