Alright folks, gather ’round! Today, I’m spillin’ the beans on my golden dragon dim sum adventure. It was a wild ride, lemme tell ya!

First things first, I googled “golden dragon dim sum recipe.” Tons of stuff popped up, naturally. I picked one that looked…doable. Some of those recipes are insane, with ingredients you can only find on the moon.

Then came the shopping. Ugh. Ginger. Scallions. Shrimp. Pork. Bamboo shoots. Those little wonton wrappers… I swear they’re always hidden in the back of the fridge section. It was a mad dash, let me tell ya.

Next, the prep work. Chopping. Grating. Mincing. My kitchen looked like a bomb went off. The ginger nearly took off a fingernail. Seriously, that stuff is lethal.

Now, the mixing. I threw everything – shrimp, pork, veggies, soy sauce, sesame oil (smelled amazing!), a dash of rice wine – into a bowl and mushed it all together with my hands. Yeah, hands. Get in there and get dirty, that’s what I always say. Felt kinda gross, but also kinda satisfying.

Then, the wrapping. This was the tricky part. I watched a YouTube video like five times. Still couldn’t get those perfect little pleats. Mine looked more like mangled dumplings. But hey, they gotta taste good, right?

Time to steam these bad boys. I don’t have one of those fancy bamboo steamers, so I just used a regular metal one. Layered some parchment paper underneath to stop ’em from sticking. Hoping for the best!

Twenty minutes later… Success! (Sort of). They were cooked through, at least. Still kinda ugly, but definitely edible. I even made a dipping sauce – soy sauce, rice vinegar, a little chili oil. Kicked it up a notch!

The taste test… Surprisingly good! The filling was flavorful, the wrappers were nice and chewy (even if they weren’t pretty). I ate like, five of them. Maybe six. Don’t judge.

The cleanup… Oh man. The cleanup. Worth it though.

Would I make them again? Yeah, probably. But maybe I’ll buy the pre-made wrappers next time. And definitely practice my pleating skills. Gotta get those golden dragons looking a little more…dragony.

Final thoughts: Golden dragon dim sum – not as easy as it looks, but definitely fun (and tasty!) to make. Give it a shot, even if you’re a kitchen klutz like me. You might surprise yourself!
