Okay, here’s my blog post about quick and easy braids, written from my personal experience:
So, I’ve been trying to get better at doing my own hair, and braids are always a go-to, right? But sometimes, I just don’t have the time (or patience!) for anything super complicated. I wanted something I could do in like, five minutes, tops. That’s where these “quick and easy braids” come in. I messed around with a few different styles, and here’s what I’ve found works best for me.
Getting Started
First, I brushed my hair out really well. Knots and tangles are the enemy of quick braiding! If my hair is being extra staticky, I might use a tiny bit of leave-in conditioner or a spritz of water. Nothing crazy, just enough to calm things down.
The Braiding Process
Then Divide your hair into three sections. Braid the sections, crossing them over one another.
- I started with a basic three-strand braid. You know, the one everyone learns as a kid? Take a section of hair, divide it into three equal pieces, and cross the right piece over the middle, then the left piece over the middle. Repeat, repeat, repeat.
- I tried doing this a few different ways. Sometimes I’d start the braid right at the top of my head, like a regular French braid, but honestly, that took too long. It was way faster to just gather all my hair at the nape of my neck and start the braid there.
- Another thing I experimented with was the tightness of the braid. A super tight braid looks neat, but it’s also harder to do quickly. I found that a slightly looser braid was not only faster but also gave a more relaxed, casual vibe. Plus, it’s easier on my hair!
- If I want something, it should be changed to another style.
I Found the rope braid. This one is even easier! Divide your hair into two sections, twist both sections in the same direction (I usually go clockwise), and then twist them together in the opposite direction (counter-clockwise for me). It creates this cool, twisted effect, and it’s SO fast.
Finishing Up
Once I reached the end of my hair, I secured the braid with a small, clear elastic. I don’t like anything too bulky that will show. Sometimes, if I’m feeling fancy, I’ll wrap a small strand of hair around the elastic to hide it, and secure that with a bobby pin. But most days, I just leave it as is.

And that’s it! Seriously, it takes me like, two minutes to do a simple braid this way. The rope braid might take even less time. It’s my new favorite trick for getting my hair out of my face without looking like I just rolled out of bed (even if I did!). I recommend that everyone could have a try!
