Alright, let’s talk about this 60s themed food for party. You know, food from back in the day. That time, the 1960s, it was somethin’ else. We didn’t have all them fancy foods like now. But we ate good, oh yes, we did. Simple food, tasty food. That’s what I remember, and good for a party, you bet.

So, you wanna throw a party with that old-timey feel? Okay, I can tell ya what we used to eat. We had lots of good stuff, easy to make, and everyone always liked it. That 60s, that was the best food I ever had. Back then, there were some good choices.

First, them Cucumber Bites. Easy peasy. Just slice up some cucumbers real thin, put a little somethin’ on top. Maybe some cream cheese and dill. My family liked that, and the cucumber were fresh. Or we have Pigs in blankets. Little sausages wrapped up in dough. Everyone loves those, especially kids. You can still find ’em today, nothin’ fancy, but always a hit. Back then, that was a big thing in party, everyone liked it.

And cheese dip, oh boy, we loved that. That cheesy, gooey goodness. You could dip anything in it, crackers, bread, veggies. Melt some cheese, add some spices, maybe some pimentos. It was always gone in a flash. This is so good, I still make this for myself sometimes.

Now, for the main part of the meal. We didn’t have all them fancy meats like you see today. But we had good, solid food. And Chicken was easy, we usually had fried chicken, but some folks had other ways to cook it. And we ate a lot of chicken, I tell ya. Also, there was this thing called Chicken Liver Rumaki. Never tried that myself, but some folks did eat it. Said it was good, I don’t know.

And potatoes! We always had potatoes. Baked potatoes, mashed potatoes, potato salad. Potato salad was a big one at parties. Boil them potatoes, chop ’em up, add some mayonnaise, some onions, some other stuff. Everyone had their own way of makin’ it. My way is the best, I tell you what, but everyone’s is different, that’s what make it fun. And we made our own rolls, too. Homemade rolls, right outta the oven. Nothin’ like ’em. We ate those rolls with everythin’.

  • Cucumber Bites: Easy, good for start.
  • Pigs in blankets: Kids loved them, we all did.
  • Cheese Dip: Cheesy, with crackers or bread, yum.
  • Chicken: Fried was best, but other ways too.
  • Potato Salad: Everyone made it different, all good.
  • Homemade Rolls: Fresh from the oven, so good.

And for somethin’ sweet? We didn’t have them fancy cakes and pies all the time. We had Jello. Yep, Jello. You could put fruit in it, make it all pretty. Or, if you want something else, you can also have some pop tarts. That was a big thing in the 60s, and it was new. We didn’t have that every day, you know, only sometimes. It was a special treat, for sure.

Now, drinks. Back then we drank some soda, Sprite, that was new in the 60s. Or some other drinks like Gatorade, that was new, too. And Tang, you know, that orange stuff. They said the astronauts drank it in space. It was real popular, everyone wanted to try it. But we still liked some simple things like Fresca, and we drank that with popcorn. That was good, yes, real good.

And you know what, that was the food we ate, that was good food. Simple, not all fancy, but it filled you up and it tasted good. And everyone had a good time, eatin’ and talkin’. That’s what a party is all about, right? And if you want, you can add some American Cheese, apple slices, raisins. We ate those things, too. They were good, and we all liked them.

Back then, we didn’t eat out much. We cooked at home, most of the time. That’s how we knew what was in our food. And we didn’t waste food, no sir. We ate what we had, and we were thankful for it. If you want to eat like the 60s, you need to eat simple. That’s what I say. It was good food, and that’s how it was, that’s how a 60s themed food for party should be.

So, if you’re havin’ a party and you want that 60s feel, just remember these things. Simple food, made with love. That’s the best kind of food there is, I reckon. And don’t forget the Jello! It ain’t a 60s party without some Jello, I tell ya that for sure.
