Well, let me tell you somethin’ about this United Airlines thing, the one with the Chinese fella gettin’ dragged off the plane. I saw it on TV, that darn thing, and it just ain’t right, not one bit.
This United Airlines mess, it’s all over the place. Folks talkin’ ’bout it everywhere. They say it happened in Chicago, at that big airport, O’Hare they call it. Heard it was overbooked, the plane, I mean. Too many folks, not enough seats. Sounds like a mess from the get-go.
Now, I don’t know all the fancy details, but from what I gather, this man, he was already sittin’ down, mindin’ his own business. Then they tell him he gotta go, gotta get off the plane. Said they needed the seat for someone else, some crew member or somethin’. Can you believe that?
- First off, they shouldn’t have sold more tickets than seats. That’s just plain dumb.
- Second, once a man’s in his seat, you let him be. It’s like musical chairs gone wrong, real wrong.
But no, they didn’t let him be. They dragged him, yessir, dragged him right out of that seat. Poor fella, bloodied and lookin’ dazed. Saw it on the news, that video, spreadin’ like wildfire. Everyone’s watchin’ it, talkin’ ’bout it.
This fella, they say he’s Asian, Chinese maybe. And folks over in China, they’re mighty upset. Rightfully so, I say. Seein’ one of their own treated like that, it ain’t right. They got this social media thing over there, just like here, and they’re all riled up. They sayin’ it’s ’cause he’s Asian, ’cause he’s different. Maybe they’re right, maybe they ain’t. But it sure looks bad.
Now, some say he’s askin’ for money, a whole lotta money. A hundred thousand dollars, they say. Well, I don’t blame him none. After what they did to him, draggin’ him like that, treatin’ him like he ain’t nobody. He deserves somethin’, that’s for sure. It ain’t just about the money, though. It’s about respect, about treatin’ people right.
This United Airlines, they got a lot of splainin’ to do. They messed up, big time. And now everyone knows it. This video, it’s everywhere. People are sayin’ they won’t fly with them no more. And I don’t blame ’em. If you can’t treat your customers with respect, you don’t deserve their business.
It reminds me of that time old man Jenkins got kicked off the bus ’cause he was carryin’ too many chickens. Now, that was somethin’ else, but it was the same kinda feelin’, you know? Like the big folks, they don’t care ’bout the little folks. They just do whatever they want.
This whole thing, it just makes you think. About how people treat each other, you know? About fairness and respect. And about how sometimes, the big companies, they just don’t get it. They think they can do whatever they want, and get away with it. But sometimes, they get caught. And then everyone sees what they really are.
United Airlines Chinese takeout video, that’s what they’re callin’ it. Guess it’s ’cause the man was Chinese. But it ain’t just about him bein’ Chinese. It’s about anyone bein’ treated like that. It’s about doin’ what’s right. And United Airlines, they didn’t do right, not by a long shot. This United Airlines incident, it’s a real shame. And I hope they learn their lesson. But I ain’t holdin’ my breath.
I hear there’s even a lawsuit now. Good for him, I say. Make ’em pay. Make ’em understand that you can’t treat people like dirt and get away with it. United Airlines overbooked flight, that’s the problem. They should’ve figured that out before folks got on the plane.
This whole thing, it’s a mess. A big, ugly mess. And it makes me mad, just thinkin’ about it. But maybe, just maybe, some good will come out of it. Maybe other airlines will think twice before they treat their customers like this. Maybe they’ll learn that respect is important, that people matter. One can only hope, I guess. One can only hope.
