So yeah, I’ve been cutting out gluten lately cause my stomach’s been acting up. Popped into M&S yesterday specifically for their gluten free section. Grabbed five things people keep raving about online.
The taste test begins
Cracked open the chocolate brownies first. Holy smokes these are dangerous! Super fudgy with proper chocolate chunks. My kid stole three before I even finished chewing. Wouldn’t know it’s gluten free if the packaging didn’t scream it.
Next up, their fish fingers. These surprised me big time. Crunchy coating stayed crispy in the air fryer. Inside was flaky actual fish, not that rubbery junk. Dipped in ketchup? Absolutely nailed it.
Meal time options
Tried the margherita pizza for lunch. Base gets real crispy if you shove it in the oven an extra two minutes. Cheese pulls nicely and the tomato sauce has that proper herby kick. Way better than other GF pizzas I’ve tried.
Now the sausage rolls – these split the family. I loved the buttery pastry crumbling everywhere, but my wife thought the sausage filling tasted “too healthy”. Whatever that means. Solid texture though, no weird gumminess.
Sweet finale
Finished with the victoria sponge cake. Bit dry round the edges but the jam center saves it. Not quite as fluffy as normal cake obviously, but for GF? I’d serve this to guests without warning them first.
So final verdict? Brownies and fish fingers are absolute bangers. Pizza’s a weekly repeat buy now. Sausage rolls and sponge cake are good but not mind-blowing. Honestly shocked how decent this stuff is – M&S knows what they’re doing with gluten free.
